Cleveland Browns Offseason 2017

Was erwartet er?

Kevin Zeitler, Cincinnati; Larry Warford, Detroit; or T.J. Lang, Green Bay -- All guards. All young. All heading to their prime years. Zeitler is the best of the group, though he'll also be the most expensive. He's 27 and has played well for the Bengals since he was drafted in 2012. Why the Bengals would let him go is a mystery, but if the Browns add him they would be bringing in a potential Pro Bowl guard who would allow Greco to slide to center. That would give Cam Erving one last chance to prove he belongs in the NFL — at right tackle. Lang plays hard and well and played through a challenging foot injury last season. Warford may be the most affordable; he bounced back from injury to play well in 2016.

A.J. Bouye, Houston -- Joe Haden has had injury issues the last two seasons, and though he remains a good cornerback his contract ($11.1 million in 2017 and '18, $10.4 million in '19) makes dealing with those injuries tougher every season. Undrafted free agent Briean Boddy-Calhoun played well last season, but a team can never have enough corners. Bouye is 26 and has only 19 starts, but he had a Pro Bowl-caliber season in 2016.

Johnathan Cyprien, Jacksonville -- The good news is Cyprien is a second-round draft choice who played well in 2016, and he's 26. The bad news is he struggled his first three seasons. If the Browns judge him as a player on the rise, he could be a wise addition.

Brandon Williams, Baltimore -- Williams will show whether the Browns are bringing back their free-spending ways; he will be well compensated on the market. Williams is a very good inside defensive player and could effectively tandem with Danny Shelton at tackle. The Ravens rotate between three- and four-man lines, so Williams would fit what Gregg Williams wants to do. Signing him would be like signing Zeitler -- it would hurt a division rival.

  • Larry Warford : RG , FA = Only 25 y/o Good run blocker Full of potential Immediately fills a need (RG) Will command $8M/yr.

Da MUSS also was passieren.

  • Confirming #Browns have placed the second-round tender on Isaiah Crowell but are still working on a long term deal
    (Cabot)

Browns placed a second-round tender on restricted free agent Isaiah Crowell.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports the two sides are working on a long-term deal.
The tender will give them more time to hash out the details. Crowell came out of the gates hot in 2016, recording 447 total yards and three touchdowns in the first four games. Hampered by an injury-marred offensive line, he slowed down considerably the rest of the way, but he still set new career highs in carries (198), receptions (40), and total yards (1,271). The Browns have been linked with running backs this offseason, but the long-term negotiations suggest Crowell will remain atop the depth chart in 2017.
