ZitatWilliams is understandably not active Sunday in the wake of this horrific tragedy. His family lived in Memphis and often traveled to see him play for the Cardinals. Williams' mom and sister were also in the car. Their status is unknown.

ZitatNEW ORLEANS -- Arizona Cardinals safety Rashad Johnson said Monday that he lost the top of his left middle finger just above the knuckle during Sunday's loss to the New Orleans Saints.
Johnson realized the significance of the injury when he pulled his hand out of his glove and the fingertip was still in it.
He underwent surgery Sunday night. Doctors shaved down the bone in the finger to prevent infection. There are no plans to reattach the finger, and Johnson's injury may take a few weeks to heal.
Johnson thinks the injury occurred just before halftime during a punt return by the Saints' Darren Sproles. He is unsure how it happened and will watch game film Monday to get a better idea.
Johnson realized he was hurt when he looked down and saw blood coming out of his glove.

Night in jail changed Tyrann Mathieu
Soweit so gut ...
ZitatAlles anzeigenOne night in jail changed Tyrann, who walked out of East Baton Rouge Parish Prison with a new mindset. He knew his days playing for LSU were over and the odds of playing football again were stacked against him. But he knew playing in the NFL was his next step.
"Once I turned that corner, I stopped worrying about how others perceived me," he said. "It's more about what do I think about myself.
"That's when I finally turned that corner."
...
This isn't the time of year his general manager worried about. He's waiting to see how Tyrann will deal with the offseason.
"I don't know of a bigger challenge than when the season's over that he'll face because now he's got a little bit of money in his pocket, he doesn't have the same structure and he's gonna have to make the decisions on his own," Keim said. "Everything I've seen makes me believe that I think he's gonna make the right decisions, but it's something that he's always going to have to be challenged with."
geile Offense, kolossale Defense ... gibts hier nen Bandwagon?
ZitatArizona Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians revealed Monday that rookie safety Tyrann Mathieu tore both the ACL and LCL in his left knee in the team's recent win over the St. Louis Rams.
The injury will sideline Mathieu for the final three regular-season games while also putting his availability for the start of the 2014 campaign in question. Arians told reporters that the former LSU star will undergo surgery later this month and isn't likely to be medically cleared for the start of next summer's training camp.
