Im Basketball erziele ich durch einen Dunk Punkte. Im Football ist die Aktion dagegen nutzlos und somit eigentlich überflüssig.
Das Jubeln an sich ist auch nutzlos. Man erhält dadurch ja nicht mehr Punkte.
Alles hat seine Grenzen und die NFL sollte langsam auf die Bremse treten. Es driftet etwas ins Alberne ab.
Ich finde das gut, habe in meiner Jugend auch Mannschaftssport betrieben und konnte f�r das Abfeiern nach einem Tor nichts tolles sehen, bei uns wurde abgeklatscht und gut war es.

The NFL passed a rule Wednesday that makes it illegal for an offensive player wearing an eligible number -- between 1 and 49, and 80 and 89 -- to report as ineligible and line up outside the tackle box. Now, if a player is declared ineligible yet aligns outside the tackle, the offense will be penalized for illegal substitution.
The rule, proposed by the NFL's competition committee, resulted from a successful series of plays by the Patriots during a 35-31 playoff victory over Baltimore in January.
In that game, Patriots running back Shane Vereen was ineligible yet lined up as a slot receiver on three separate plays. That left the Ravens defense confused about who to cover, and the Patriots used it as impetus for a touchdown drive. Vereen ran a route backward because he could not cross the line of scrimmage, but it forced the Ravens to still account for him.
Next season, if Vereen declares as ineligible, he would have to line up in the tackle box.

Es gibt übrigens eine sehr sinnvolle Regel-Änderung. Ab kommender Saison kann der Certified Athletic Trainer eine Auszeit beantragen, sobald er einen Spieler sieht, der medizinische Versorgung benötigt. Vor allem bei Gehirnerschütterungen ein ganz wichtiger Passus.
Under the new rule, if the certified athletic trainer, who'll be sitting in a booth above the field as a spotter, sees a player who needs medical attention, he or she can use the official-to-official communication system to notify the side judge, who will then stop the game.
The purpose of the new rule is to allow Cardenas and other independent consultants at games throughout the league to evaluate players almost immediately after a big hit.
Here are details of the rule when the game is stopped for a medical timeout:
• The game and play clock will stop (if running) and remain frozen until the player is removed from the game.
• Both clocks will start again from the same point unless the play clock was inside 10 seconds, in which case it will be reset to 10.
• The team of the player being removed will have an opportunity to replace him with a substitute, and the opponent will have an opportunity to match up as necessary.
• No communication via coach-to-player headsets will be permitted during the stoppage; no member of the coaching staff may enter the playing field.
• No player other than the player receiving medical attention may go to the sideline unless he has been replaced by a substitute player.
If the independent neurological consultant on the sideline witnesses a head-to-head or head-to-ground hit, or sees a player come off the field looking dazed, the consultant will have the ability to contact the trainer in the booth. Then the trainer can call down to the side judge to stop the action and request that a player be taken out of the game.

Bei der Szene, die du wohl meinst, wäre die Rule wohl gar nicht angewendet worden. Der Hit von Matthews kam nach einer Interception. Somit war das Spiel eh unterbrochen und Wilson hätte untersucht werden können.
