NFL Week 14: TNF: Vikings @ Cardinals

    Terence Newman und Rookie Anthony Harris (diese Woche vom PS befördert) starten als Safeties, Trae Waynes bekommt seinen ersten Start auf CB für Newman. Für Anthony Barr wird wohl Edmond Robinson starten - auch ein Rookie (7th round pick...), Sharrif Floyd wird wieder Linval Joseph als NT ersetzen und dafür Tom Johnson als 3-technique starten.

    Für Newman ist es das erste Spiel von Beginn an als Safety. Das ganze bedeutet wohl, dass auch Robert Blanton nicht mehr fit geworden ist. Vier kaputte Safeties in nicht mal zwei Wochen - urks.


    So, melde mich ab jetzt :)


    Korrektur: Blanton ist wohl active, aber nur für den absoluten Notfall. Die inactive list ist schon voll mit QB Heinicke und sechs Verletzten (Smith, Sendejo, Barr, Joseph, Watts, Easton)...

    Newman als Safety wird interessant zu beobachten. Ich kann mich erinnern, dass man bei den Cowboys auch mit der Idee geliebäugelt hat, als er als CB einen Schritt langsamer wurde. Dass er noch 4 Jahre danach Leistung auf einem guten Niveau bringt, hat damals keiner mehr vermutet.

    Im Nachhinein ja. Aber damals war er zu anfällig geworden und zu teuer. Ich mein, er ist jetzt 37. Da gibt's nicht mehr viele NFL-Profis, die noch ihre Leistung auf so einer Position bringen können (Charles Woodson ist die andere Ausnahme). Mit 33 waren 10 Mios für einen CB einfach zu viel Geld.

    Ja, die Darrell Greens dieser Welt sind rar gesät...

    Antoine Winfield wäre auch so einer gewesen, hat mit 35 noch 1a gespielt, wurde uns dann aber zu teuer. Und er hatte dann wohl keine Lust mehr, nachdem ihn die Seahawks im TC gecuttet haben (und dann auch noch den SB gewannen)...

    Bei dem Namen such ich immer sofort den imaginären Hut, um ihn vom Kopf zu ziehen. Was für ein Spieler. Was für ein Mensch. Habe zwar nur die zweite Hälfte seiner NFL-Karriere verfolgen können, aber wow. Trotz rivalisierendem Team habe ich kaum mehr Respekt vor einem Spieler, als vor Green.
