    Ich bin jetzt nicht alle Namen der gefeuerten Assistants im Einzelnen durchgegangen aber wie es aussieht hat Dorsey mit der Ernennung von Freddie gleich Tabula Rasa mit der Vergangenheit gemacht.
    Dürften wohl alle mit Greg/Blake William&Hue Bezug gegangen worden sein.
    Das Henry als WR Coach bleibt ist verständlich und macht Sinn.

    Wilks runs an aggressive 4-3 defense that will blitz often. However, unlike in Gregg Williams’ aggressive defense, Wilks has his secondary primarily playing zone in the back-end. Williams typically had his corners playing press man coverage.

    Wenn wir diesen Wilks kriegen und dann Dorsey ihm noch zum bestehenden Talent die Pferde (siehe meine FA-Wish List) besorgt, dann könnten wir ein Powerhouse von Defense in der neuen Saison sehen.

    Das dürfte sehr interessant werden. Monken steht auf Big Plays: "Big Plays. I like big plays. So how do we not figure out ways to get explosive plays? That's fun. That's fun to me in football".

    Darf ich mal erfahren warum du den gern bei den Browns gehabt hättest?
    Ich meine ausgerechnet die Browns. Könnt ihr nicht genug von eurem Misserfolg kriegen? :madness

    Weil er schonmal OC bei den Browns war und damals einen guten Job gemacht hat. Er sollte bleiben, Hue wollte das allerdings nicht. Dann kamen die Eagles, wo er auch gute Arbeit geleistet hat. Dann ihr...da lief's halt nicht.

    Ich finde es läuft gut mit der Besetzung der Coordinators. Hier merkt man jetzt, das Talent auf dem Roster ist und die Coordinator Jobs attraktiv sind um sich im Rampenlicht präsentieren zu können. Ob Monken Plays callt oder nicht konnte ich noch nicht ausfindig machen. Ich habe aber irgendwo gelesen, dass man bei Monken eh nur damit rechnen kann, dass er eine Saison bleibt. In dieser Zeit kann sich Freddie an den HC Job gewöhnen und ab Jahr 2 dann, ohne Monken, wieder das playcalling übernehmen. Wohl etwas weithergeholt als Strategie, finde es aber einen spannenden Ansatz. Auch gut wären noch ein paar junge Assistenten oder Positional Coaches, die man zum OC hinzüchten könnte. Ich denke Dorsey hat das im Griff, zusammen mit Freddie natürlich.

    Bin schwer gespannt, ob man was zur D (und natürlich Wilks im speziellen) hören wird.

    Wilks lässt (ganz im Gegensatz zu Williams) sehr viel Zone spielen.
    Es war ja immer zu hören, daß man das Personal mehr auf das Man-Cover scheme von Williams ausrichten möchte.
    ( der pick von Ward bringt das quasi auf den Punkt.)

    Die D ist für mich eine extrem spannende Sache und beschäftigt mich imo einfach viel mehr als die O.

    Richtig - und LB ist neben DT, LE und CB eine Baustelle mMn....

    I think Steve Wilks is the biggest question mark of the coaching staff. Similar to Gregg in his blitz aggressiveness. Played a lot of zone in Carolina. some complaints out of Arizona that he was stubborn with scheme and personnel

    Ryan Pace, asked about Cody Parkey’s Bears future and his appearance on the Today Show:

    “That position is an emphasis for us. We understand that we need to get better."

    = Same Browns.
    Und ja, diese Position kann über" Playoffs 2019, ja oder nein " entscheiden.

    Edit : So, wie die O imo klickt (top Field - Position) würde ich einen Dawson jederzeit bevorzugen.

    Back when Kitchens was promoted to OC, there were a lot of eye rolls #onhere when Dorsey mentioned Kitchens' play-calling in the preseason finale at Detroit.

    Dorsey brought it up again Monday.

    "We walked away going ... 'He just did that, didn't he?' And he made it look easy."


    Ich habe das interessiert verfolgt, vor allem wenn man bedenkt, was die ganzen Analysten, beat-writer usw. alles so erkennen, sehen und im kleinsten Teil analysieren wollen :

    Keine einzige Sau hat damals erkannt, daß Dorsey vs Lions in der Preseason die O-plays gecallt hat.

    Hierzu mal eine Frage, da ich noch kein allzu alter Hase im Football-Business bin: Inwieweit kann sich ein DC, der sehr viel Zone in seiner DC-Laufbahn spielen lassen hat, entsprechend umstellen, wenn das Team von den Spielern eher auf Man Coverage aufgestellt ist? Müsste ein guter DC eine solche Umstellung nicht problemlos hinbekommen? Ich gehe ja mal fest davon aus, dass das auch ein Thema im Interview mit Wilks war.

    Diese Frage / Situation war schon oft Gegenstand zahlreicher Diskussionen , welche eigentlich immer auf zwei verschiedene Meinungen hinauslaufen :

    1. ) Ein Top-Coach passt sein System immer den Spielern an , welche er zur Verfügung hat.
    Er baut sein System im Grunde um die Stärken und Schwächen der Spieler herum auf und holt so das maximale aus Ihnen heraus.
    Das elite-Beispiel auf der offensiven Seite des Balles ist hier wohl ( respektvolles Gähnen....) mal wieder BB , welcher z.B. backup-QB´s wie all-pro´s aussehen lässt...
    Der Coach ist einfach extrem flexibel ....
    Zurück zur D :
    Hier würde ich mal behaupten , das solche Coaches gerne auf eine hybrid-D umschwenken und dadurch also eine 3-4 D mit einer 4-3 D "vermischen " , die plays quasi "mixen" und der jeweiligen Spielsituation ( rush-oder passing down ) anpassen.
    Natürlich braucht es hier auch das passende Spielermaterial.....

    2.) Das Gegenteil sind wohl die Coaches , welche "stur" an ihrem jeweiligen System festhalten , sich allen neuen Entwicklungen überhaupt nicht öffnen und im Grunde "ihren Stiefel runterspielen lassen".
    Die Spieler werden quasi in ein System gepresst wo sie sich a.) weder wohlfühlen und natürlich b.) nicht performen.
    Das geht hin bis zur Verschiebung von Positionen ( FS muss jetzt auf einmal CB spielen ) , wobei schon vom Grundansatz manche Spieler für gewisse Systeme völlig ungeeignet sind. ( DT / DE in aus einer 3-4 soll jetzt in eine 4-3 D eingebaut werden mal als Extrembeispiel ).

    Nehmen wir mal unseren CB Ward als Beispiel:
    Absoluter top-CB in der Man- coverage , dafür wurde er ausgebildet und dafür wurde er mEn auch von den Browns geholt . (Williams-scheme ).
    Natürlich kann man Spieler auch "umdrehen" , das liegt an den Spielern selbst und natürlich an den Coaches , da braucht es dann eine Menge Fingerspitzengefühl...

    Gegenteiliges Beispiel ist wohl ein K.Mack , welcher für mich einer der besten Spieler überhaupt ist .
    Mack kann man wahrscheinlich überhaupt nicht so deplazieren in einer D, das er NICHT performt. RE ? LE ? OLB ?
    Mack wurde seine Leistung wohl auch als DT problemlos abliefern...


    Ich habe das jetzt mal wirklich als "Laie" ausgedrückt und wenn z.B. @burnum hier mitlesen sollte könntest du mit einer extrem qualifizierten Antwort zu diesem Thema rechnet.
    (Gibt natürlich neben burnum noch einige andere ( @pointi , ect ) , der viel mit halt gerade ein....)
