Dallas Cowboys Offseason 2019

"So this is how I remember saying goodbye to Bilbo," [a raccoon he had as a kid] Leach wrote. "He wandered 10 yards away or so from the truck, and then he turned and looked at us and kind of had this expression like, 'It was nice knowing ya.' It was this moment where like, both I knew and he knew that we’d had some good times, but this was it. It was onward and upward for both of us."

Zitat

Kellen Moore is the Cowboys coach running the offense at the Pro Bowl. Here he is giving Russell Wilson the plays

• Kellen Moore designed a play that has “scored several touchdowns” according to Travis Frederick

“Immediately when you talk to him you understand how smart he is and how well he understands the game. As a backup quarterback, in all honesty, he was acting as a quarterback’s coach the entire time. So when he made that transition there, that was a no-brainer. He’s super smart and understands all that very well.”
“If you sat down and talked to him, you would think that he’s a genius.”

“You look back at his history to project where he’s going forward and how much success he’s had in the college game, running a system that is a little bit different than what we do now, but having the time to learn and adapt in this system. You could see all the way throughout, as a player, and then moving into that coaching role, he got a little more say in that coaching role and all of a sudden you started to see a few things. A few innovations, a couple of plays. Actually, he had a play named after him, it was his play and it scored several touchdowns. These are things that you know he had an impact on, even at a quarterback’s coach level. So, looking forward if that is the case that he becomes the offensive coordinator, you know that those ideas are going to be given more traction.”

• Cowboys coach Kris Richard, who interviewed for 3 head coaching jobs in the last month, said there was no guarantee he would’ve left the Cowboys had he been selected. Said the support he has received in Dallas has been “amazing.”

The #Cowboys have not made an official decision on offensive staffing, but sources say this is the expected scenario: Kellen Moore as OC, Jon Kitna as QB coach, TE coach Doug Nussmeier with more influence… & coach Jason Garrett not calling plays. The brass likes him overseeing.

• Zitat

Based on these Pro Bowl practices, the most likely scenario is that the offensive scheme that Garrett’s staff is using will be compiled by Moore, Nussmeier, and Kitna, with Garrett keeping a watchful eye, and then Moore will call the plays in the all star game on Sunday.

The low (non-existent?) stakes of the Pro Bowl effectively allow Moore and company to have a trial run at this; after all, the three quarterbacks Moore will be calling plays for - Russell Wilson, Mitchell Trubisky, and Dak Prescott - all possess similar skill sets, so it’s good practice for finding ways to utilize their strengths, most notably their mobility. If Garrett likes what he sees, then perhaps Moore will get the offensive coordinator job will full play-calling duties. It also gives fans a chance to see what kinds of plays Moore can draw up.

The Pro Bowl will provide a sneak peek at the Cowboys new offensive coaching system

• It’s Official: Kellen Moore Named New OC

Zitat

It’s official: Kellen Moore is the Cowboys’ new offensive coordinator.

The Cowboys made the announcement Thursday, nearly two weeks after the team mutually parted ways with former play-caller Scott Linehan.
The team also formally announced Jon Kitna as new quarterbacks coach, the role Moore held last season.
