    Ich fand ihn letzte Saison echt okay. Die langen Dinger hat er gemacht, aber bei etwas kürzerer Distanz hat er geschwächelt.
    Kurzfristig wäre Matt Bryant sicher für 1-2 Saisons eine gute Übergangslösung. Danach sollte man sich nach etwas langfristigen umschauen. (Falls Maher nicht die Kurve kriegt)

    Wenn das der Wahrheit entspricht, dann macht sich die NFL nur noch lächerlich:

    So to confirm, I asked Jones if he would like to avoid being as top-heavy?

    “You’d like to avoid it,” he responded.

    Heut gibt's wieder Dallas Cowboys Football. Hier ist ne gute Aufstellung der Roster-Bubble-Players (ohne Anpruch auf Vollständigkeit):

    Ich werde vor allem auf das QB Duell achten - Rush vs White. Dazu die WR - machen Wilson, Davis, Jon'vea Johnson oder Guyton weiter auf sich aufmerksam?

    Die D-Line ist ohnehin gerade ohne ihre vermeintlichen Starter - hier können sich Taco, Dorance Armstrong, Joe Jackson, Kerry Hyder oder Jelks empfehlen.

    CBs ist auch spannend, vor allem auf Mike Jackson bin ich gespannt.

    Und dann noch Special Teams - Maher inklusive, aber auch die Returns von Davis und wen sie sonst testen.


    Ich glaube nicht, dass wir Dak mehr als eine Serie sehen werden. Pollard eventuell etwas länger (RB ist auch so ne Position, die interessant zu beobachten sein wird: Chunn, Jackson, Weber). Ebenfalls glaube ich nicht, dass die Cowboys heute viel von Kellen Moores Offense offenbaren werden. Wird wohl alles sehr einfach gehalten.

    Egal - hauptsache wieder Cowboys! :D

    Ungut dass Luke Gifford wohl länger ausfällt mit High Ankle Sprain. Hatte grad so richtig Fahrt aufgenommen, auch die erste INT gefangen. Und sehr unschön die Aktion gegen Wilson, der sich heute als der beste der Nicht-Starter auf WR entpuppte. Übles Play vom Niner-Safety, der auch zurecht vom Platz gestellt wurde. Hoffen wir mal, dass die Gehirnerschütterung bald vollens verheilt.

    Ansonten viel Schatten bei Jon'vea Johnson. Ab und zu blitzte auf, warum man ihm einen Rosterplatz gewähren könnte. Aber leider blitzte auch regelmäßig auf, warum er undraftet blieb. Mental Error, Drops. So wird das eher nichts.

    Weber hätte dann fast Mike White gekillt mit seinem verpassten Blitz-Pick-up. Auch bei ihm war das eher ein Schritt rückwärts. Von den RBs konnte sich außer Pollard hinter der Starting Line (minus Martin) keiner so recht empfehlen. Morris hat gar nicht gespielt.

    Für einige der Rookies war das heute Lehrgeld zahlen - Mike Jackson gehört auch dazu.

    Bei den Back-up QBs war Cooper Rush eindeutig der Sieger, wobei Mike White auch oftmals keine Hilfe hatte. Trotzdem hält er mir den Ball manchmal zu lange.

    Vom Playcalling wie erwartet nur die Standard-Formationen, kein Pre-Snap-Movement, keine Misdirection Plays. Hab zwischenzeitlich mal bei KC vs Cinci reingeschaut, da sah das komplett anders aus. Aber die können es sich erlauben. Die Cowboys wollen ihre Karten noch verdeckt halten. Macht wie schon erwähnt Sinn.

    Ach ja - Maher war wie im Training Camp schon angedeutet wieder ein 75%-Kicker. Aus so kurzer Entfernung muss man den halt in der NFL reinhauen. Bleibt eine Zitterpartie. Ich wünsche mir Bailey anno 2016 zurück. ;(

    Es ist doch gut das man die Preseason hat.

    Bei Maher wird man wohl die nächsten Spiele abwarten, sollte er weiter die FG aus kurzer Entfernung verhauen werden die Cowboys sich einen anderen Kicker suchen.

    So hab grad das ganze Spiel fertig gesehen, folgende Dinge sind mir aufgefallen:

    + WR Wilson war der beste Receiver, von denen die um den 5. und vl. 6. Spot kämpfen
    + Gifford hat wieder gute Ansätze gezeigt bis zur Verletzung :(
    + Jarwin wird immer besser
    + Awuzie sehr stark
    + D. Wilson mit einer Klasse INT

    - WR Johnson, Drops ohne Gegner, hatte mir mehr erwartet
    - D-line hat kaum Druck gemacht, Charlton sieht aus wie ein UDFA
    - viele missed Tackles
    - CB Jackson sah absolut nicht gut aus
    - Running Game außer Pollard war das echt mies
    - Maher wie Aikman schon schrieb, ist einfach ein 75% Kicker, den einen muss er machen
    - Offense Playcalling: Mir ist schon klar das wir noch nicht viel zeigen wollen, vor allem was Pre Snap Motion und Misdirection angeht. Aber das war sowas von einfallslos und schlecht, vor allem in der RedZone.
    - Mike White ist eine Frechheit. Der braucht ewig für seine Reads, ist inakurat, trifft schlechte Entscheidungen.

    Hab dieses Wochenende viele Spiele gesehen, aber die Leistung der Cowboys war eine der schlechtesten. Wenn die 49ers nicht gefühlt 250 Yard an Strafen kassiert hätten, hätte es noch viel schlechter ausgesehen.

    Ich weiß es ist Preseason und wir sehen seit Jahren in der Preseason schlecht aus. Aber von ein paar Spielern hätte ich echt mehr erwartet: Jackson, Johnson, Schultz, Weber, Charlton, Jackson, White, Armstrong, Guyton,...

    Aus der zweiten Reihe haben sich in dem Spiel nicht besonders viele aufgedrängt. Mike White hat mich dann im negativen Sinne überrascht, auch wenn er sich zum Ende hin dann ein kleines bisschen gesteigert hat. Die Verletzungen von Gifford und Wilson sind natürlich bitter, die beiden haben einen guten Eindruck hinterlassen.

    Jap, Awuzie war auch sehr stark. Mir gefiel zudem Joe Jackson aus der zweiten Reihe. Aber im Grunde war das Backfield as advertised und bei der D-Line merkte man einfach, wie die 2. Garde doch deutlich abfällt. Als Rotation-Spieler sicher nicht verkehrt, aber ohne Maliek, Crawford und vor allem Lawrence kann man das natürlich nicht richtig bewerten. Gleiches gilt fürs Running Game, wenn da teilweise O-Liner auf dem Spielfeld stehen, die gerade mal frisch gesignt wurden. Deswegen muss man da jetzt nicht den Kopf in den Sand stecken.

    Und wie gesagt - man wird in der Pre-Season nicht annähernd das wahre Gesicht des Cowboys Playcalling sehen. Deswegen ging es hier nur um die Basics - blocken, fangen, tackeln.

    Es gibt Alternativen, aber ob die sich dann als besser bewähren, wenn es wirklich ums Ganze geht? :madness Ein Name allerdings geistert ständig durch die Foren und diversen Seiten: Matt Braynt. Ist zwar schon 43, hat aber letztes Jahr 20 von 21 seiner FGs für Atlanta verwandelt, darunter ein 57 Yarder.

    Rico Gathers blieb übrigens ungeclaimed und ist jetzt bei den Browns untergekommen. Viel Glück!

    Und wer das Helm-Drama um den WR Clown in Oakland mitbekommen hat - hier ist Jason Witten's Beitrag dazu. Auch ihm wurde der Schutt-Helm abgenommen aufgrund von Sicherheitsbedenken und durch einen neuen ersetzt. Fiel dem alten Haudegen ebenfalls nicht einfach, er hatte ihm sogar einen Namen gegeben. Aber wie man Witten kennt, hat er sich damit auch arrangiert:

    Weißt du warum er in Atlanta keinen neuen Vertrag bekommen hat?

    Ich nehme an, weil sie mit Tavecchio einen jüngeren und vor allem billigeren Kicker auf dem Roster hatten, der in Bryants Vertretung sich empfehlen konnte. Ist ja meistens so, dass man versucht so wenig wie möglich Geld für die Special-Teams-Position auszugeben.
