  • Roy on hes way out??????

    Zitat

    - Cowboys Considered Ditching Roy Williams, But... The Star Telegram reports the Cowboys have contemplated releasing S Roy Williams. But according to NFL sources, the more the concept is discussed, the same conclusion is reached: They can, but they can't. There simply aren't realistic trade partners, and the idea of a team swallowing Williams' contract is too much. Williams signed a four-year, $25 million extension with an $11.1 million signing bonus in 2006. He's scheduled to make $3.7 million in 2008, $4.4 million in 2009 and $4 million in 2010. Unless there is a dramatic shift in philosophy, the Cowboys will go with Williams as their strong safety in 2008... with some alterations. The team is prepared to take him out in nickel and dime passing situations next season.

:hinterha::xmargevic

The Dallas Cowboys reached a long-term agreement with OT Flozell Adams Thursday, Feb. 28, which means Adams will likely end his career as a Cowboy. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

    Zitat

The Cowboys beat the NFL's 3 p.m. deadline on Thursday to send out restricted offers and tendered Barber with a one-year contract of $2.562 million. He is free to negotiate with other clubs and can sign an offer sheet. The Cowboys then would have seven days to match the deal and if they chose to pass, they would receive a first- and third-round draft pick in return.

    Zitat

The Cowboys and Dolphins apparently are close to a trade that will send defensive tackle Jason Ferguson to Miami in exchange for draft picks. But don’t get too excited about that part.

Don’t expect the Dolphins to be sending any first-day picks. It’ll probably be in the neighborhood of a fifth- or sixth-round pick, possibly both.

Ferguson tore his biceps tendon in the season opener against the Giants and spent the rest of the year on injured reserve. He’s 33 with 11 years of NFL experience and if that’s not enough, the Cowboys shelled out big bucks to keep Jay Ratliff and already have Tank Johnson coming back next season, playing for the NFL minimum.

As for Ferguson’s contract, it is hardly for the minimum. He was scheduled to count $5.62 million on the salary cap. While the Cowboys do wipe off his $4 million base for 2008, they will take a signing bonus proration of $3.2 million this season. So add it all up and if Ferguson is not on the team in 2008, the Cowboys will save about $2.4 million.

    Zitat

Colleague Matt Mosley is driving right now and can't type. But he just called me with a tip from one of his Cowboys sources. Dallas suddenly is showing interest in running back Tatum Bell.

He's not the biggest name out there, only rushing for 182 yards with Detroit last season. But Bell, who was begging for a trade out of Detroit midway through last season, could be a nice fit as a backup running back. He was a 1,000-yard rusher for Denver in 2006. He's also a Dallas native and, at 26, he still has fresh legs.

    Ta-daaa:

    Zitat

We've been telling you about the Cowboys' interest in Broncos receiver Javon Walker for a couple of weeks. Now that he's been released by the Broncos, Dallas is free to pursue the enigmatic receiver.

As Todd Archer points out on my old blog, Walker's former position coach in Green Bay, Ray Sherman, serves in that same capacity for the Cowboys. Sherman has a close relationship with Walker, and he was one of the people who consoled him when Broncos cornerback and Fort Worth native Darrent Williams died in his arms following a shooting in downtown Denver on Jan. 1, 2007.

Walker has had two strong seasons (2004 and 2006), but he missed almost the entire 2005 season and a large portion of 2007 with a knee injury. I've talked to a couple of people who said he's never been able to recover from Williams' death. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones is someone who believes that a change of scenery can have a tremendous impact on a player, as evidenced by Terrell Owens and Leonard Davis.

Don't underestimate Sherman's influence in Jones' decision-making. He gives him a lot of credit for T.O.'s success this past season.

Cowboys | Team to trade Ferguson
    Fri, 29 Feb 2008 09:26:59 -0800

ESPNews reports the Dallas Cowboys will trade DT Jason Ferguson and a 2008 sixth-round draft choice to the Miami Dolphins for a 2008 sixth-round draft choice and a 2009 sixth-round draft choice.

    Bye Bye Fergie...

    Walker mmmh...eher nö...knee injury!!!

  • Even healthy, I thought Walker was alway overrated. DMN reports there is an interest though.......so he may be a Cowboy shortly.

  • So far......Good New - Bad News

Samuel is an Eagle? Should "we" worry? I suppose if he played like he did in th SB no, but that signing could be a really pain.

At least Wilson is off to the Raiders, thats the good news!

    edit:

Also CB erst in der 2. Runde!
