“We have been looking for an ‘anchor’ network,” Katz says of the league’s television plans. “We’ve been talking with the NFL Network about them kind of being our anchor.”
The network has been hoping to expand more real football programming and the AAFL might fit its off season schedule. AAFL games could replace the now-defunct NFL Europe, which never attracted a great U.S. following and also suffered from time differences affecting live viewership. The network would probably air one national game of the week.
One negative aspect of a possible NFLN deal, as Katz notes, is that the network is currently only available in 40 percent of households. However, the AAFL could garner credibility with pro football fans by being on the channel devoted to the game.
On the NFL Network deal, Katz says he expects a deal to be announced after the Pro Bowl, scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 10, in Honolulu. League vice president Keenan Davis is handling the league’s television negotiations. Davis oversees the league headquarters in Atlanta, team presidents, sponsorship negotiations, television rights deals, personnel staffing, budget management, and all football-related decisions for the league. Prior to working for the AAFL, Davis spent the last seven years with the NFL in public relations, communications, governmental affairs, football operations and player personnel. His experience and NFL contacts could be a boost for the league as it seeks TV exposure.
“Every communication I’ve seen makes me feel positive about it,” he said of the NFLN deal. “I think they view us as NFL-friendly.”

Ok, Geld weg... Liga tod.

Was nicht soooo dolle überrascht.

This is great NEWS !!!!!! Last thing we need is another football league. Its a waste of time anyway, as no one will watch it.
