1. Lions Aaron Curry LB Wake Forest
Rich Eisen: "I've already come to terms with the first pick in this draft. We love this player. We think he's fantastic, and we think he'll be great in Detroit. We've thought long and hard about this pick. Even though a lot of people in this town think we need a quarterback, I'm going to go ahead and announce Aaron Curry as the first pick of the 2009 NFL Draft. Also just to throw a big curveball, because most mocks have Matthew Stafford going first, and he may just do that. I'd like to see how Stafford drops here."The experts weigh in ...
Mike Mayock: "Are you being a contrarian, or do you really believe in this pick?"Rich Eisen: "I believe in this pick. I think Detroit will love him. And I think he'll love Detroit. I feel much more comfortable that he'll come in and contribute on snap one to a team that hasn't won in two years."
Mike Mayock: "Gentlemen, any thoughts?"
Charley Casserly: "Well, you just saved yourself $20 million. Because Stafford wasn't going for $30 million."
Charles Davis: "You got the Curry discount. That's good. He's good for the economy in Detroit."
Marshall Faulk: "You just saved your job. If you would have taken Stafford, and Stafford didn't pan out, after those two to three years, you'd be out."
Rich Eisen: "I think this guy is the safest pick in the draft. I think the Lions can't afford to mis-fire. I also chose this because I really wanted to see what Marshall Faulk really thinks about Marc Bulger in St. Louis, who picks second on the clock with Stafford on the clock."
Mike Mayock: "Rich can't help himself. He segued right to Marshall Faulk and bypassed me. Here's the deal: With the first pick, Rich, that's an interesting pick. You can also go left tackle. If you took a tackle, Jason Smith or Eugene Monroe, you'd have bookend tackles and you could find your quarterback down the road. I'm not a Stafford guy. It's a legitimate pick, you saved yourself some money. Marshall Faulk is on the clock with the St. Louis Rams."

Marshall Faulk: "This pick is fairly easy for us to make when you look at what we have and don't have. With no Orlando Pace, that lets you know that we're going left tackle, and we're taking Eugene Monroe."
