Bei den Jaguars sind es:

K Seth Marler - hat alle FG in der Preseason getroffen, auch ein 55-yarder. Könnte der Steal gewesen sein!

WR Cortez Hankton - hat Donald Hayes den Platz weggeschnappt und konnte überzeugen.

RB Joe Smith - Der Leading Rusher der Preseason der Jaguars. 102 Yards und 2 TDs .... Stacey Mack mit Receiving Skills soll er sein. Trotzdem ist er nur RB Nr.3 nach Fred Taylor und LaBrandon Toefield.

POSITIVES: Wide bodied interior lineman who can be used in a two gap system. Breaks down well, quick off the snap and makes plays in every direction of the field. Effectively uses hand technique to keep blockers off him, displays nice footwork and stays on his feet or slides laterally to the action. Good sideline-to-sideline range, looks to get involved in the action and goes hard all game. Athletic, agile and plays much faster than his listed forty time.

NEGATIVES: Engulfed by bigger lineman, wears down over the course of a game and slow shedding blocks once engaged at the point of attack. Not a knee bender.

ANALYSIS: Movement skills and athleticism make him a good fit for a variety of schemes such as a two gap player in a three-four or even the three technique in a four man front. May never be an every down starter but should contribute at the next level.

POSITIVES: yards as a senior, scoring one touchdown. Sophomores totals were 16-103-2. Suffered a rough off-season which saw the untimely passing of his mother and struggled at the beginning of the 2002 campaign.

NEGATIVES: Devastating lead blocking fullback and one of the best in this draft. Vicious, attacks his blocks and displays great strength at the point of attack. Drives defenders off the line, opens holes for the running game and finishes the play. Gets outside around tackle and displays good blocking vision. Solid short yardage runner who keeps his feet chugging up the field.

ANALYSIS: Not quick out of his stance, stiff and lacks adjustment. Also not fast.

POSITIVES: Well built, physical corner best in press coverage. Fluid transitioning off the line, displays solid footwork and smooth in his hips turning back to the ball. Aggressive, bumps opponents throughout the routes and quick defending the run. Shows good wherewithal on the field, reads opposing QBs and has a good break on the ball.

NEGATIVES: Only average speed and lacks the quick close or ability to stay downfield with opponents. Never ultra productive on the field.

ANALYSIS: Could do well if placed in a scheme that best suits his talents, such as press coverage or as a zone cornerback.

BIO: Former transfer from West Virginia and an All-Conference selection as a senior after totaling 20 receptions for 175 yards and one score. Sat out the 2001 season after starting every game for the Mountaineers in 2000 posting 15-126-2.

POSITIVES: Big, strong tight end best as a blocker. Quick releasing off the snap of the ball, breaks down well and plays with leverage. Stays square, keeps defenders in front of him and turns opponents out blocking for the run. Extends his hands and catches the ball away from his frame as a receiver. Displays focus and concentration.

NEGATIVES: Not fast, lacks balance and only effective a few yards off the line of scrimmage as a Pass catcher. Does not display the top footwork in pass protection.

ANALYSIS: One dimensional and not much of a receiving threat but his blocking abilities could garner late round at10tion.

PROJECTION: Undrafted Free Agent

- CB Roderick Hood (muss angeblich ein sensationelles Training Camp haben)
- DT Sam Rayburn (never heard of...)
- S Quintin Mikell (never heard of, muss aber schon was drauf haben, nachdem er Cook und Lejeune ausgestochen hat)
- OL Alonzo Ephraim (never heard of...)
- S Clinton Hart

Hättste dat net vorher sage könne?

In diesem Jahr haben es bei den Bucs 2 Spieler geschafft:

- TE Will Heller, ein 6`6- Riese von Georgia Tech und

- Cleveland Pinkney, seit zwei Jahren um einen Rosterplatz kämpfend; 2001 von den Colts entdeckt.

Bei Heller kann man davon ausgehen, dass er Rickey Dudley weichen muss, wenn dieser wieder fit ist. Er hat in der Presaison einen guten Eindruck hinterlassen, ist aber für mich nur ein Lückenfüller. Vorerst jedenfalls.
Pinkney kenne ich von der NFLE her. Da hat er vor einem Jahr in der Berliner Line gestanden und mächtig Power gemacht. Er ist ein Großmaul wie sein Vorbild Sapp. Entdeckt hat ihn übrigens Lou Holtz. Potential ist da.

Bei den Lions hat es RB Avon Cobourne mit sehr guten Leistungen in den Preseason-Games geschafft, vom undrafted free agent zum heißen Anwärter auf den ersten Backup-Spot hinter Stewart zu werden. Jetzt, wo sich Stewart verletzt hat, wird er vielleicht sogar starten, denn Neuverpflichtung Gary muss das Team erstmal kennen lernen.

Ebenfalls im 53-Mann-Kader dabei: TE Casey Fitzsimmons. Er wird allerdings nur dritter bis vierter Mann auf der Position sein.

Bei einem ungebildeten Vikes-Fan? Nö....

Bei den Saints hat es mit TE Zach Hilton ein Spieler sehr souverän geschafft, da wurde auf anderen Positionen gekürzt, um ihn al 4. TE halten zu können.

Generell ist es aber kein gutes Zeichen, wenn viele Rookie-FAs im Kader stehen. Meist ist das nämlich der Fall, wenn ein Team im Umbruch ist oder in den Jahren zuvor in den mittleren bis späten Runden schlecht gedraftet wurde und diese Spieler leicht ersetzbar sind.
