    Cardinals fire Green after three seasons

    TEMPE, Ariz. (Jan. 1, 2007) -- The Arizona Cardinals fired coach Dennis Green on Monday after he failed to turn the downtrodden franchise into a winner in three seasons on the job.

    Green was dismissed one day after the Cardinals concluded a 5-11 season with a 27-20 loss at San Diego. He finished with a 16-32 record at Arizona. The Cardinals will pay $2.5 million to buy out the final year of his contract.

    He was the seventh coach the Cardinals have had since the franchise moved to Arizona in 1988

    Irgendwie Schade - die Puzzleteile für eine erfolgreiche Zukunft hat er nach 'zona gebracht - aber ernten wird nun ein anderer. Mal sehen ob man tatsächlich an Wunschkandidat Carroll herankommt, oder ob der bei USC bleibt. Evtl ist Martz noch ne Alternative.

    Aber bei der Bidwell-Familie weiß man nie, was die so anstellen wird... :D

    Wo brauchen denn die Cards dise Off-Season die meiste Verstärkung? O-Line? DBs? Linebackers? Den QB, HB, FB, TE und WRs haben sie ja schon.

    Eine richtige Entscheidung der Cardinals. Aus 49ers Sicht finde ich es aber schade. :yawinkle: Ich hoffe nur, dass sie es nicht schaffen Carroll zu verpflichten. Mike Martz? Ja, den können sie ruhig nehmen. :mrgreen:

    Ich würde Fitzgerald, Boldin und Edge alles vorziehen was Oakland da im Moment im Angebot hat :)

    also wenn Shell ein "greensches" Schicksal ereilt, hat OAK 2007 eine bessere Bilanz als Arizona, auch wenn es auf niedrigem Niveau stattfindet ... :smile2:

    @ Adi: das hier ist kein Wunschkonzert :smile2: , spontan fällt mir aber auch nicht der Vikings-MVP dieser Saison ein, Sharper vielleicht ??

    Die Cardinals werden laut GM Rod Graves die folgenden Coaches interviewen:

    former Packers coach Mike Sherman, Bears defensive coordinator Ron Rivera, Titans offensive coordinator Norm Chow, and Colts assistant head coach Jim Caldwell

    Wer von denen wohl der Favorit ist? Mein Tip ist Norm Chow.

    Sofern Carroll in LA bleibt, denk ich auch dass Norm Chow der Top-Favorit auf den Job ist. Er kennt Leinart aus USC-Zeiten, er hat eine fantastischen Job in Tennessee mit Vince Young gemacht.

    Andererseits: Das sind die Bidwells und Arizona - möglicherweise holt man auch Mike Zimmer.... :jeck:

    Denke auch ,dass Chow am besten paßt, aber wie Aikman schon sagt, bei den Bidwells muss man mit allem (i.d.R. mit dem falschen :hinterha: ) rechnen. Allerdings klingen im Prinzip diesmal alle Kandidaten ganz gut.

    Rivera ist mein Tip, Graves kennt ihn noch aus Bears Zeiten....

    Naja, auf die Draft muss man bei dem vorhandenen Talent bei den Cards nicht mehr unbedingt bauen. Da könnte Sherman also passen ;)

    Die Cardinals haben immer noch gewaltige Lücken im Team. Man sollte sich von den Receivern und E. James nicht blenden lassen. Wo ist sonst Talent in diesem Team? Die OLine kann noch verbessert werden und die Defense ist wirklich nicht besonders gut. Der Grund für die 5-11 Bilanz war nicht Green, sondern es war hauptsächlich das fehlende Talent in diesem Team. Die Cardinals werden besser werden, aber sie haben immer noch sehr viel Arbeit vor sich. Und die Draft wird für sie sehr wichtig sein.

    Ich bin als 49er Fan mit Sherman nicht unzufrieden. Es hätte schlimmer kommen können. :smile2:

    Mein Post war auch durchaus ironisch zu verstehen, da Sherman in GB nicht gerade als Draftguru bekannt war. ;)
    Die O-Line ist ein großes Problem der Cards. Wenn man es schafft, Leinart da den nötigen Support zu geben, dann wird aus den Cards zwar nicht direkt ein Spitzenteam, aber es würde nach Jahren des Stillstands endlich mal voran gehen.
    Wobei man das in schöner Regelmäßigkeit denkt und dann doch wieder entäuscht wird.

    Bis jetzt hab ich die Meldung noch auf keiner seriösen Seite gesehen, von daher würd ich erstmal abwarten ob das auch der Realität entspricht.

    PFT mag die Bild-Zeitung der NFL sein, aber die haben tatsächlich fast immer recht bzw. melden viele Dinger schon 1-2 Tage vor allen anderen :madness

    In deiner angegebenen Reihenfolge. Ich denke an der Oline muß gearbeitet werden, weil auch noch Leonard Davis FA wird. Sollte er noch weggehen, dann haben die Cards mit Sicherheit den 1st-Pick in der 2008er Draft. So denke ich, sollte man sich nicht nur via FA verstärken, sondern auch einen hohen Draftpick investieren. Mich würde es nicht überraschen, wenn sie sich Joe Thomas an 3 holen. Desweiteren sollte noch ein Safety und ein CB verpflichtet werden. Griffith ist nicht mehr der jüngste und die Depth sieht etwas mau aus. Und man sollte sich auch um die WLB-Position kümmern.....
