@ Paelzer
The two problems are one. If you have a young player making his first start, you try to put him in the best situation to succeed. Seems easy enough to me. You go up against a good passing offense that you know will throw the ball 35 times, and if they can at your weakest link. What do you do? You don't let them throw the ball. How? Run the ball. Keep the time of possession. The RB's played well when they touched the ball. You watched the game, so you saw it. I think the RB's averaged around 4 yards per carry. Last time I checked thats enough for a first down, which then holds on to the ball, not allowing the weakness to show. I will not blame Shep for the loss, it is Ried's fault!(Be honest,TB's touchdowns, one was perfection the other luck, it just happened to be on Shep) I'm not saying that he is probowl, he is a weakness right now, but if you and I and the Bucs and the Pats know it, then why doesn't Ried know it? Then McNabb played with no heart or confidence. You could see that he was off early on. So why not run the ball? I will also not blame injuries, yes they hurt and weaken us, but with all do respect to the Pats, we should have beaten them anyway. Same thing with the Bucs for that matter. If Andy Ried had any kind of a game plan for either team we would have won.
To defend my fellow Philadelphians, they didn't boo McNabb until he showed no heart. If he was out there having a bad day but busting his ass, they would have cheered, but he seemed to me and the other fans like he didn't want to be there. To the other boos, they were for Ried, and for the work and imagination that he put into the gameplan, all I can say is: BOOO, I feel as if Rich Kotite is back!
